New multifunctional complex in Minsk to set urban environment standard
One of the most ambitious investment projects being implemented today in Minsk is Gazprom Center multifunctional complex, the customer and investor of which is OJSC Gazprom Transgaz Belarus. The multi-purpose complex, the construction of which is being actively conducted within the road lines of Filimonov Street – Independence Avenue – Makaynka Street, was set to be an innovative project. This concerns not only architectural, planning decisions, construction technologies, but also an approach to organize the urban space in general.
The project architects – British office of NBBJ global architecture, planning and design firm – has put into the project most advanced technological solutions that are fully consistent with the concept of Minsk Skyline and planning documentation developed by the specialists of Minskgrado. The headquarters building of Gazprom will become the center of the project composition with height of 189 meters. Today, it is the tallest building in the Republic of Belarus. Construction of such a high-altitude building requires high construction and maintenance standards. In particular, an automated monitoring system of engineering structures continuously monitors the state of the load-bearing structures both during the construction and operation processes. Besides the headquarters, eight buildings of different heights will be built on a plot of 8.27 hectares: four class A office buildings, where everyone will be able to set up an office in a comfortable and modern environment. In addition, there will be medical, sports and energy centers, a hotel with the world brand conference center Radisson Blu, a shopping street, gourmet restaurants, and a themed café, a grill pub and other eating places. The energy centre will become a source of heat, cooling and electricity for all the buildings. Space for public city events with an open amphitheater is also stipulated by the plan, where a light-dynamic fountain will operate in the summer, while in the winter there will be a skating rink for everyone. The total area of the buildings makes up 264 thousand square meters.
The complex will decorate the architectural appearance of Minsk, add to it modernity and will become its business symbol and hallmark, as well as a magnet for Minsk residents and guests.
In addition to the architectural value, the investment project realized by OJSC Gazprom Transgaz Belarus fulfills a socially important role, due to the company’s money thirty apartments for large families have been already built in the metropolitan area Michałowo-2; 50% of the estimated cost of the multi-level transport interchange construction at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Filimonova Street are being funded, which is going to solve the traffic problems of the capital’s district Vostok.
Gazprom Center is an international project, not only because of its foreign, world-famous architects and designers, but for the reason that the end user of its services will be not only the Belarusian business, but also foreign companies.
“We appreciate the potential of the multifunctional complex, not only from the architectural side, but also in terms of attractiveness for business. This is a completely new level from all points of view.” said Andrey Aleshkin, partner, director of the brokerage division of Colliers International in Belarus. “Launching of the complex will contribute to business development in Belarus, which undoubtedly increases the internal culture industry, and the use of new technologies in construction will give an impetus for future projects in Belarus.”
